Nashwa is an artist who uses film to make work that begins in her dreams and nightmares - past & present, asleep & awake.

Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Nashwa grew up in Edmonton, Alberta where she found her love of performing and visual art. This then led her to New York City to study filmmaking. As a filmmaker and filmworker Nashwa has worked as a producer, sound designer and arts community organizer with an interest in film, sound art and the South Asian diaspora. Nashwa also worked as the assistant to director Wes Anderson on his film Isle of Dogs. As a performer, Nashwa has been found on stage and on screen and continues to expand her practice. Nashwa’s directing and acting work has screened at festivals globally including Nashville Film Festival, San Jose International Short Film Festival, FAVA Fest, The Visual Studies Workshop. Rochester and Kulturhuset, Oslo.

Currently, Nashwa is an MFA student in Film Directing at the California Institute of the Arts and is based in Los Angeles.
